Child safety
Child safety standards
GPDO has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This page is our published standard, the measures behind it, and how to reach a human about it.
Our standard
Child sexual abuse or exploitation material (CSAE/CSAM) is forbidden on GPDO without exception. So is any attempt to solicit, groom, sexualise, threaten or arrange to meet a minor for those purposes, any sexualised depiction of a minor — photographic, drawn or generated — and any content that normalises, trades in or points to such material elsewhere.
An account that does any of this is removed. There is no warning step, no strike system and no appeal path that ends in reinstatement.
Preventing it
- An age check at signup. You give your date of birth, and the minimum age of 16 is enforced on our servers before an account is created. It is one floor for every country GPDO covers — the EU, the EEA and Switzerland alike. Under 16, signup is refused, and there is no parental-consent route.
- Every photo and video in a post, reel, profile or pitch listing is scanned before it is stored. Nudity detection runs on our own European servers at upload time, ahead of the database and ahead of file storage, so rejected media is never written anywhere. Video is sampled frame by frame and stops at the first unsafe frame. The scanner fails closed: if it is unavailable, uploads are refused rather than let through.
- Text is screened too. Post text, comments, reel titles and reel comments pass through automated moderation before they publish, including the sexual/minors category. Chat messages, including photos sent in a chat, are not scanned; a message reaches a moderator when someone reports it.
- No stranger pairing, and under-18s kept apart from adults. GPDO does not match people to each other. Private accounts are available and take effect immediately — and for users aged 16 and 17 the account is always private and cannot be made public until they turn 18. Our servers, not just the app, keep under-18 and adult accounts apart: they cannot follow each other, send each other direct messages, be added to the same group chat or comment on each other's posts, and they do not appear in each other's search results or suggestions. An under-18 can like an adult's public post, but the adult is never told who. Games organised by an under-18 are open only to under-18s. On a game's player list adults see an under-18 only as a numbered player, and under-18s see each other there only when both are playing in that game. When someone turns 18, the connections they already had with under-18 friends carry on, but no new ones can start. An under-18 home base is stored only at district or postcode-area level (about 5 km), never as an exact point. A date of birth cannot be changed once it is set — support can correct a genuine mistake — so nobody can re-date themselves across the 18 line.
- No ads and no profiling. There is no advertising SDK, no advertising identifier and no behavioural profiling in the product, of anybody.
Reporting it
- In the app. Every post, comment, reel, reel comment, chat message and profile has a report action, two taps away. You pick a category — child sexual abuse is one — and add a short written explanation of up to 500 characters, which every report requires. Every report goes to a moderator, and reports of child sexual abuse or terrorist content go first.
- By email. Write to office@gpdo.app with CHILD SAFETY in the subject line. You do not need a GPDO account to do this. Tell us the @username and, if you can, what and where — you do not need to attach anything, and please do not forward imagery.
- Blocking is available at the same time and takes effect at once, in both directions, silently.
What we do when we find it
- Remove the content from public view immediately.
- Disable the account, ending its access to the API — not only hiding it.
- Preserve the material and the account record for law enforcement rather than destroying evidence.
- Report it to the competent law-enforcement authority and to an INHOPE-member reporting hotline, and respond to lawful requests for information.
- Where the report concerns a child using GPDO rather than abusing it, prioritise the child's safety over the account.
Compliance and contact
We comply with applicable child safety laws in the countries where GPDO is available, and with the child safety requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The named point of contact for child safety matters, and for law enforcement, is office@gpdo.app. It is monitored by a person.
